The Truth About Mexico!

Go! Overseas Top Mexico Blog

living in Mexico

What do we do for fun?  Well, besides the beach, bike riding, visiting with friends, cooking, playing with the dogs, and messing about with websites… here are a few things:

READING

I love to read.  I started keeping track of the books I’d read so I could take a list with me to a bookstore or library…insurance that I would actually remember the authors I had enjoyed.

At one point I got involved in the “50 Book Challenge” so that is when I started keeping track of the number of books I read every year.

Click here for my list of books. I’m also on Goodreads.

KNITTING

I wish I'd taken pictures of more of my projects over the years, but here is some of what I've done.

I’d like to encourage my knitting readers to join the English Speaking Knitters in Mexico group on Ravelry. You need to join Ravelry (it is free) and you will find a world of patterns and ideas for knitters – plus groups like ours to share information and friendship. There are pages on yarn shops in many areas in Mexico, with information contributed by the members. Find me on Ravelry here.

MOVIES AND PLAYREADINGS

Paul and I have participated in a group that performs playreadings for the last few years.  This year our leader, Ken Albanese, created Mazatlán Film and Theater, and every Tuesday evening in the winter there will be either an independent film in English (or subtitled in English) or a playreading performance in the 50 seat theater in the art school next door to the Angela Peralta Theater.  To check what’s playing, visit the website for Mazatlan Film and Theater.
