Guadalajara instead of Mazatlan’s Carnaval this year

March 4, 2017

A friend who used to live here in Mazatlan offered to house and pet sit during Carnaval and Paul and I jumped at the chance to get away.  We do love Carnaval but thought it would be fun to get out of town for a change.  We decided to spend a week in Guadalajara, booking a rental in Colonia Americas.  The Americas and Lafayette areas are very lively and fun areas to explore. We were thrilled with our choice.

We walked all over, of course.  Ate a lot of good food and enjoyed a few cocktails.  It was a blast. The weather was lovely and warm and spring was in full force, as you can see by the park photo above.

Downtown Guadalajara is under siege as they dig a subway. It should take another year but will be fabulous when it is done.

We found a fantastic cocktail bar not too far away and listened to some excellent music while enjoying cocktails a couple of times. (Oliveria, Libertad 1852)

We enjoyed some of the local beer at Mercado Chapultepec

We spent a day at Tlaquepaque, and another day at a fabulous mall. We walked to and from Centro and tested lots of park benches. It was great.  Well, sorry to not say more but I am in a rush to finish this as I am heading out of town in a few minutes to share a week in Sedona with my sisters.  Stay tuned!

Share and Enjoy !
