Nancy’s New Media Do’s & Don’ts

The internet is amazing, isn’t it?  There is so much out there that part of the issue for most people is filtering what gets through to you.  A few years ago it was all about filtering spam – but the technology has gotten better and better and far less spam lands in my inbox these days.  Now we need to filter social media.  Sometimes there’s just too much coming at you! I’ve been accumulating some do’s and don’ts for new...

Tips for Moving to México

Are you one of the 10,000 baby boomers reaching retirement age every day? Yes, every day for the next 18 years 10,000 people in the US turn 65. Even if only 1% of those people consider México, that is 36,500 people per year. Are you one of them? Paul and I decided on México for retirement for a lot of reasons. We wanted an adventure. We wanted to learn a new language, learn about a different culture, and experience life...

Just a little construction…

There’s been a lot of digging, dust, concrete, and cobblestones going on in Centro lately.  For weeks the street has been torn up on Vincente Guerrero from Barragán to about Serdan.  The idea has been to create a pleasant walking corridor from the cruise ship terminal to the Plazuela Machado. Above is a picture of Constitución taken from the corner of the Plazuela Machado. Now the work has continued on Calle Constitución from the Plazuela Machado a block or two...

An update on Mazatlán’s El Recreo

A lot has been happening over at El Recreo.  I bet you’d like an update – and maybe would like to know what you can do to help. At the top of the page is a picture of the exterior and I’ve pasted on the new logo.  Isn’t it nice?  We are getting bids on signage, hopefully it will be up soon. The picture below is of the Molika @ El Recreo coffee shop space – they are still waiting...

Tropical flowers

Yes, I am playing around again taking pictures of the plants in our yard and goofing around with Photoshop.  In the center picture you’ll notice the Mexican Flag Vine doesn’t look like it normally does – it is making seed pods! Hope you enjoy the photos, I will move on to another topic soon, I’m sure....

Flor de Mayo (Plumeria) in my Mazatlán garden

I am in love with some of the plants that are just ordinary plants around here. But to me they are spectacular – especially the lovely flor de mayo – or to most of you – plumeria. I suppose if someone from Mazatlán moved to Washington State they would be similarly stunned by the rhododendrons and azaleas seen everywhere! I have been playing around with my camera and working on making my photos a bit more memorable.  I hope you...

Life in Mazatlán

Life here is good.  For the ice cream seller every Sunday on the beach to teenagers enjoying the water on their boogie boards.  It’s all good. The video below is from last Friday.  It was around 6 pm and the schools were going to be closed both Monday and Tuesday.  A large group didn’t waste any time getting their boards and getting into the water.  Pretty nice.  As with any videos, you can adjust the quality once you’ve clicked Play...
