    DURING

It’s worth scrolling up and down a little bit to see the difference between the before photo and the during photo.  There is a little more than a month separating these two photos, and you can see they are making progress on the exterior. A lot of the wrought iron is sanded and painted with the orange rust resistant primer, and most of the lintels, the fascia, and the corbels have been repaired.  I think it looks great!

I tried to brighten up the second picture a bit but this morning when I took it it was threatening to rain and pretty dark out.  (The above picture was modified and replaced…thank you to Jennifer, Mazatlán’s guru of all things web and Gimp)

There was a comment on the previous post about this building that indicated that it might find a new use as a Sanborn’s. I don’t know if that will actually come to pass, but whether it does or not I am very happy that this fine old lady is getting taken care of properly.

We took the dogs to the groomer the other day.  Henry needed a trim, and Lucy needed a bath.  They both needed updates on their shots.

It is exhausting for Henry to go to the groomer.  He gets anxious in the car, and is nervous the whole time he’s there.  He about flies out the door when we pick him up, and when we get home, he sleeps for the rest of the day.  This time he came back to us looking normal; short all over and a schnauzer face.  His picture is at the top of the post.

The funny one this time was Lucy!  She is a ten year old lab mix, and when we came to pick her up, she had pink bows glued to her ears and her nails were pink!  What a crackup!  I think the ladies there are so used to doing little white poodles that they got a bit carried away!

We are heading up North for a week visiting family next week and of course we’ve been thinking about what we should bring back that we have trouble finding down here.  So this week I am afraid I am creating an avalanche at my son’s house of packages arriving UPS.

Here’s a few things I’m having sent or going to buy when I get there:

    • Three yards of Sunbrella fabric to make cushions for our outdoor furniture. (outdoorfabrics.com with thanks to Jonna)
    • Semolina for pasta making, bulgur wheat, and fennel seeds
    • two more picaportes for the new doors in the sala fresca
    • Dog tags with our new phone number

I was looking on line for a slipcover for the couch in our tv room.  We let the dogs on it so I am washing the sheet we cover it with several times a week.  Look at what I found, below!  I am probably going to have a few more made or make them myself when I get back.  (Surefit.com)

Merida Mikey planted the seed for a moisture proof salt shaker, and I bought a set of two on Ebay.  The picture is at the top of this post.

Our schnauzer-poodle mix Henry loves to walk but I still haven’t broken him from pulling, so I am splurging on an Illusion Collar from the Dog Whisperer website. (cesarmillan.com)

While we’re there we also plan on buying a memory foam pad for our bed (and paying an extra bag fee to bring it home), and possibly an XBox and a Kindle.  Oh, and Red tea and Market Spice tea, too!  And if I can find them, vegetarian sausage casings so I can make my own vegie sausages.

    That’s a lot!  I am scaring myself a little!
