Do any of you remember the book Harry the Dirty Dog? It was a favorite of mine when I was a kid, and for some reason our Henry has always reminded me of Harry. Can you see why? Here’s the book cover:
And here’s Henry last week. What a mess!
Since it has been getting hot here and all the dogs in town seem to be getting their summer haircuts. We thought we should get Henry one, too. Isn’t he cute? He and Lucy hang out together all the time.
I decided that I am going to try to find a dog trimming kit and keep it up like this myself. Short all over with a Schnauzer head. It can’t be that hard, can it?

Ohhh he looks adorable, they both do!!
Just curious – how much did your groomer charge??? I want to know if we are getting ripped off, LOL!

Linda lou, I bet you can trim the cats, just wonder how many scars you would have trying it??
Lauren, Our groomer charges $150, our last one who moved out of the area used to charge $140. I think that’s the going rate around here. What do they charge you?

For the price you pay, I would not mess around with trying to do it yourself. I used to groom all of our dogs, both the show animals and the pets. It is not an easy job. And you will need more than just trimmers. You will have to restrain him also. Just enjoy how he looks when he comes back to you!

Hey Nancy – $150 is not bad, we pay $200, but that is still way better than the $80 dollars I paid in Canada!!!

I am paying $83.00 USD today to have our cat Gordy given a Lion Cut. I will post his before and after photos later. Burford always hisses at him for a couple of days thinking that we got a new cat.
I tried to check out “The Parrot that owns me” today, but I had to put a hold on it. I see the subjects name is Tiko, just like your Amazon. I wont get to the Consulate thsi week, I have to travel up to Washington State. But I will get to it before month end.

Isla Gringo, You’re right, I have been working to help people in this economic downturn so why do it myself? The only reason being he shivers and drools all the way there in the car so he doesn’t like it much.
LaurenCancun, Wow $80 in Canada? I used to pay $35 when we lived in the US.
Chrissy, I can’t wait to see the Lion Cut, I can imagine it will be pretty funny. I can’t remember The Parrot Who Owns me too well, I seem to remember the bird slept with her. Have fun on your travels!

I was able to check out “Loving Pedro Infante” today, so at least I will have something to read in the airports. I love looking at your book list. I need to start the same thing.
