I received an email today from Democrats Abroad. They are asking for input on our voting experiences. Here’s what they say:
The 2008 election cycle demonstrated the importance of overseas absentee ballots–and the difficulties that we face as overseas absentee voters. Given the confluence of these factors with Democratic majorities in the House and Senate and increasing attention in a number of states to our issues, American voters living outside the US now have a unique opportunity to influence overseas absentee voting reform efforts.
Please take 10-15 minutes of your time to complete a brief survey of your 2008 voting experience. Your answers will be compiled with those of other members of Democrats Abroad and presented to legislators in April 2009.
Democrats Abroad want to hear from you, whether you are sure that your ballot was counted, were unable to cast a ballot, or fall somewhere in between.
I was on the Board of Democrats Abroad – Mazatlán, and the Board and many of our members were very frustrated with the way online voting in the Primary was handled. While most of the survey pertains to the General Election, you can register for a phone interview or use the “other” field to express your thoughts on the Primary.
It sounds as though there is real commitment to improving the voting experience for those of us who live outside the US, and I’d like to encourage you to participate in the survey.
