The Truth About Mexico!

Go! Overseas Top Mexico Blog

I am really astounded at how much wonderful feedback people have given us when responding to the questionnaire.  As I write this, 44 people have responded.  Thank you so much!  And if you haven’t participated, I would love it if you would.  Or just read the results, it is very interesting. (See the box at the left)  You have given me so much feedback I have blog topics piling up all over the place!

Many people commented that they like to read about ordinary life in México.  I got the feeling that there is interest in more and deeper knowledge of what it’s like here.

That brings me to my topic…what it’s like to be a gringa blogger in México.  I hold myself back from commenting on the expat community too much – I’m sure you can understand why.  I live here.  Even if people don’t know me, the expat community isn’t too big and I’m sure I’d step on some toes.  Sometimes maybe I wouldn’t care, but there are some topics I have decided I can’t dig into just because it is a small town.

Here are a few one-sentence examples of topics I won’t be covering:

    • My take on what it would be like to volunteer at the local library
    • Groups of expats who like to while away the day with a ballena (that’s a whale sized beer)
    • Are there differences between Golden-zone residents and Centro residents?
    • Certain charity groups – nightmare or not?
    • People who are always grouchy about how “they” do things

So, if you think that sometimes I sugar-coat things, I do.  I live here, and I like it here.  And while I do have strong opinions on a variety of topics, sometimes I just keep my opinions to myself.
