Yesterday afternoon we were HOT. I mean HOT. Dripping. Crabby. Hot. We did chores around the house, Paul caught up on some work -- office work -- (he is still working part time for his former employer) and about 4 pm we started thinking about how to cool off.
After feeding and walking the dogs -- I mean there’s no sense getting cool if you have to walk the dogs -- we took showers and started thinking about where to go.
The usual restaurants and bars in Centro are mostly open-air, and that just seemed too hot to us, even though there would be a breeze down by the water. But then we had a brainstorm and headed to the Sky Room at the Hotel Freeman. It’s a 12 story hotel built in the 1940’s right on the malecon in Centro. The 11th floor is their bar, with windows all around that they open so you’re always in the most wonderful cool breeze.
The 12th floor is the pool and patio. You can swim in their pool as long as you buy drinks, which is pretty nice. So we enjoyed ourselves for an hour or so and watched the sunset, to boot. It was wonderful.
Below are two short videos, the first is from the bar area looking west and then swinging north and east to look at Centro and the other is from the roof looking South to the cruise ship area (there’s one docked), the Baja ferry, Cerro de la Vigia, the lighthouse, and back to the water. There’s a bit of wind noise but hey, that’s what cooled us off so I won’t apologize. Enjoy!
