It’s been hot and humid the last couple of days. Our house isn’t air conditioned – just the bedrooms (one of which is our office) and if there’s no breeze it can really get hot. With the workers working in the back we have the windows and doors on that side shut so it is hard to get that cooling through-breeze. Every day I comment how I can’t believe they can work on the roof all day long – it is incredibly hard work, in my opinion. Today I trimmed the plants in the courtyard, hosed & swept, and cleaned 11 ceiling fans and I was soaked to the skin! And exhausted…I guess I am a total wimp compared to the albañiles working outside!
Yesterday we finally caved in and put the air conditioning on in our office/tv room and retreated there for breaks. Today was even warmer and more humid. The dogs even know when the air conditioning is on and follow us around hoping to be invited into the coolness.
Right around the time the sun went down we were outside catching the breeze and noticed a strange red flashing. It turned out to be some amazing heat lightning. I went up to our roof to take a bit of video. I hope you like it!

That was really cool! Mimi loves lightening and I’m learning to appreciate it too. Lot’s of ooh’s and ahh’s on your video.

Thanks for sharing. As you know, we simply do not get shows like that up here. How hot was it today?

Jonna, it was such fun to watch, and it went on for probably an hour.
Steve, I’m not sure how hot it was outside, in our kitchen it was 88 this afternoon, but probably about 90% humidity. When we came out of our Spanish class (he had the air on) it was like walking into a laundry. Wet and soggy.

Very cool show. I’ve never seen anything like that or heard of heat lightening.
